Atlanta Falcons: 10 Reasons They Are the Team To Beat in the NFC | Bleacher Report

Although the Atlanta Falcons at 11-2 are tied for the best record in the NFL, there are still many who believe they are not the best team in their conference.Heck, some say they aren’t even the best team in their own division, despite the fact that they beat their biggest competition in the NFC South, the New Orleans Saints, on the road earlier this year. The Falcons are the least talked about and most overlooked of the NFL’s elite teams. NFL Game Center: Atlanta Falcons at Tampa Bay Buccaneers – 2010 Week 13

The streaking NFC South leaders won their sixth straight game Sunday, with Ryan finishing another fourth-quarter rally to help the Falcons 10-2 retain sole possession of first place with a 28-24 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

“When you come out and you don’t play as well as you like, but you still find a way to win, those are signs of a good football team,” Ryan said. “We feel like today was a good example of that for us.”Ryan threw two interceptions — Atlanta’s first turnovers in five games — but was at his best with the game on the line. As usual.

NFL.com news: Dimitroff’s long journey has Falcons on the precipice

Thomas Dimitroff doesn’t drive a Volkswagen conversion van anymore, even if he is trying to convince his wife that there’s a spot next to his garage in Buckhead (an affluent area of Atlanta) where one could go. Those days of cooking on the propane stove and sometimes even sleeping in the back of that old bus on scouting trips are gone now. Even if he got a new rig for old time’s sake, it would only be used to take his young son camping.

But marks of the hours spent in that van are all over his Atlanta Falcons, as the GM’s rebuilding effort, performed in collaboration with coach Mike Smith and his energetic, inventive staff, builds to its apex.
